EDINBURG - The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team announced on Thursday the addition of two volunteer assistant coaches, including McAllen Youth Soccer Association Executive Director and Houston Dynamo South Texas Academy and Junior Program Director of Coaching Gary Hamilton, and former Coker College assistant coach Stephen Scrivens. The City of McAllen has been in discussions with Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo to bring a development team to the Rio Grande Valley. The Dynamo are expected to meet with the City Commission Monday to present their idea of bringing a farm team to south Texas. Dynamo President Chris Canetti and his staff have already made visits to McAllen, where the organization has held its South Texas Academy since 2007. "We're no stranger to the market," said Canetti, who is looking at three other places, including Houston, as locations for the development team, which is tentatively set to begin play in 2016. "We think the Valley is a soccer hotbed that makes it a viable market."
The Dynamo Pre-Season Training & Tryouts is the main source of identification and recruitment for the Dynamo Academy. The curriculum and training will be based on technique & tactical development. Players will also play a number of small sided games and 11 v 11 throughout the week.

The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is part of the original Olympic Development Program founded in 1977 by US Youth Soccer is a national identification and development program for elite level players. The program identifies and develops players to compete at the state, regional, and national levels in support of National Team development efforts.
